"I've seen more racism in the North" How'd you see that exactly??? Did you work a job side by side with whites and blacks, or is this just some anecdotal stuff you heard? I worked in a Steel Mill in the North and I worked side by side with whites and blacks. I went to a highschool in the North that was at least 30% black. Did you have a lot of black folks at your highschool? I ran a construction crew in the South and I hung around with the guys I worked with. I was in a bar one time down here and a "black guy" came in. There was this big TENSION in the room. The guy just wanted to buy a six pack. I said to him, "Sit down, I'll buy you a beer". WOW, the kid that had come in knew the score, but even though I had been there several times before I was WARNED never to come back. The kid just wanted to buy a six pack. That's a TRUE story and I've got others....so don't tell me there's LESS racism in the South.
