I recall having to place calls like that when I was a young child. Don't remember our exact number but think it was Hazel something or another. I was always mystified how the operator knew my name. I'd give here the number I wanted and she'd say, "here you go David." I thought it was some kind of magic.

When they told us not to touch the black thing in the hall... that was the beginning of us not touching things and while we're now so afraid of computers..IMHO
