I completely agree. But more effective government could sure help huh? Ironically I just posted on another thread the thought that we were all guilty and that we all looked the other way as greed led us down a poor path.

Having said this though, the article was all about blame and my thinking is if conservatives want to go down the blame path - they will pay a price IMO.

As to bigger government - we're getting it and would get it if republicans were in charge. Governement got smaller under Clinton and exploded again under Bush. Gee look at Homeland Security! A whole new branch of government to gobble up taxpayer dollars. Soooo, my argument with the article - lets start with the truth, or even better yet, lets work for a stronger America.

One additional issue that is seldom mentioned is the elimination of the 1930's era separation between Fincancial Banks and Securities Banks.

I don't agree.

Both in that I don't think its a significant issue, and in that it isn't "seldom mentioned".
