Maybe. On the one hand, Limbaugh's taken the inch and rolled a mile with it. However, it might also have been a stroke of genius.

The hard fact is that Americans really don't like Republicans right now and Limbaugh represents the most extreme version of the GOP. It's exactly that extreme version that Americans went to the polls in record numbers to repudiate. So the GOP embraces Limbaugh at it's own peril. The more they stick with Limbaugh and Coulter as their face of the party, the longer they will be out of power.

I have a vested interest in seeing the GOP back to respectable amounts of power. I think our system works best when we have at least two viable parties. Right now, the GOP is defunct. They need to wake up and move center to get back voters like me. I can tell you that center right folks like me will never vote for extremist candidates that feel like Limbaugh.
