I don't believe the complaint against MSFT is that they have a monopoly in the browser market. The complaint is that they are using their monopoly in the OS to push the browser onto people's desktop. That puts NSCP at a disadvantage. MSFT has the platform, via their OS, to put anything they want to onto the desktop. IF MSFT wanted to, they could bundle their works software with their os. That would kill any competitor instantly. The only reason why they don't, actually two reasons, is 1) Antitrust-exactly what's biting them in the ass with WIN98 and 2) the millions of dollars they would lose in revenue.

I will not argue with you that MSFT is an excellent company with many good, but bloated, products. It's just that some of their business practices, if true seem quite illegal.

It's also telling that MSFT gives their browser away for free, yet has not overtaken NSCP. I use both browsers and find that there are many nice aspects to both, giving IE4 a leg up. But, I use NSCP as my default.

OFF TOPIC- GO BLUE!! U of M on the way to the ROSE BOWL/NATL CMPS.
