JQP,

I take your point about the desire, even need, for guns depending upon where one lives. Violent crime is already creeping up here in small-town CT.

I do think AJ has a point, though, about the potential for things to go very very wrong in some cases, knowing that the potential for gun-related accidents increases six-fold in homes where guns are kept.

My own uncle accidently shot himself with my grandfather's (the chief of police in my town) service revolver.

JohnQ, violent crime is at nearly an all-time low. It's about demographics. Read your statistics and turn off cable news.

As for areas with violent crime, in my younger days I used to make deliveries in those areas, so I am not unfamiliar with cities with higher than average crime.
