Not really. It's a couple of suggestions, not really a plan. And it would amplify the problem, not reduce it. The economic problems are terribly complex and very deep, brought on by treating the economy as if it could run itself. That's clearly failed.

Now it's time for some cod liver oil. No one likes it but the policies of the last several years have made it necessary.

And where is the Treasury Secretary?

Testifying before one of the House committees today. And, in the bit I watched, doing a very good job.

That was a proposal written September 23, 2008. Henry Paulson was Treasury Secretary and George W. Bush was President. They are both Republicans.
