How many high school educated guys in Appalachia or WY are gonna get better, or any, jobs in renewable energy industries?

Ditto for BNI and CSX rail workers? And the barge workers on the OH and MS? Power plant workers?

This is about creative destruction

It is most certainly not. That proposed horrendous cap and trade plan is destructive destruction of the worst sort, and if it's implemented, you can kiss any hope of economic recovery goodbye. Failure to perceive that fact demonstrates hopeless naivete.

That is a mantra in Silicon Valley

SV's success was built on the freedom to innovate without government meddling, for the most part. You'd think that some of the bright minds there would wake up to that correlation before going all gaga over the life destroying statist greenie agenda..

"You are assuming that jobs will be lost in the coal industry and that is bad for America."

This type of statement is where you and I parted ways a while back. I talk cap and trade as a job killer and you jump to coal. Coal as a fuel is irrelevant to the discussion.

I will assume you simply did not think this through and try to help you.

1. Cap and trade will raise the cost of energy in the US.

2. Raising the cost of energy in the US will make manufacturing less competitive than it already is.

Cap and trade is a job killer based on a false premise. I suspect it may not pass. If it does the harm will be found too late to help. Those whom Obama purports to care about the most will be hurt the most. He is an economic fool.

This is about creative destruction.

Oh.. you got that right brother.. Obama and his boys are QUITE CREATIVE about how they are going to destroy this economy and turn it into a welfare state. And they will work to centralize Federal power even more. I can tell that in the Western US many governors are stating to rebel against this spending if it creates programs that the Fed's are going to force the states to pay for in future years.

But hell.. just look at the earmarks and pork barrel spending (political paybacks for getting Obama elected)

Look at the latest budget bill.. something like 9,000 earmarks are getting voted on tonight.

The biggest problem is that seem to be totally focusing on the wrong areas for creating economic growth and productivity. Instead, they are spending more on entitlements as well expanding gov't service jobs.

Plus ça change...plus c'est la même chose
