Craig: Intel's "clarification" seems more like a verification of the story than a refutation. I didn't see anyone claiming that the delay in putting up the Texas plant was due to weak microprocessor demand. The problem is the profitability of flash, or the lack thereof, which is confirmed by Intel's statement.

Bottom line: "''It means the capacity that Texas represented won't be needed until the future,'' said an Intel spokesman, clarifying previous reports on the plant."

How does this news release change the story any? Will equipment suppliers be getting more business now, due to the clarification?

Craig, you have to read the fine print on this one. Nobody, and I mean nobody, said unit demand for flash was not still high. It is the profit margin that is non-existent. Intel hints at that by only talking about unit demand. What a bunch of scamsters.

So, I agree, there will be a bounce on Monday. At that point, the smart money will buy more puts, because this plant would be opening on sched if there was any money to be made in flash. MB

Hi Craig, Re: intel press release

All the markets that are open around the world are currently down as well as S&P GLOBEX. Of courxe things can change in a few hours. Do you think Intel will be able to fight a down market if we get it in the morning?
