The mess we are in now was created by too much stimulation - not a lack of it.

I would say, it was the "wrong kind" of stimulation more than "too much" of it. Building houses is a good thing--as long as it isn't overbuilding based on absurd valuations relative to income and overall wealth. And of course, unrealistically low interest rates.

That may be more of a quibble than outright disagreement. But it is important to get it right, because if we don't, we may be against a broad stimulation even if it is the "right" kind.
