Pentagon targeted by Hezbollah

Message 25472079

We do need to spy on our foreign enemies and their communications with their compatriots here in the US.

That's reassuring and I want them to track down calls to foreign countries. However, why can't they get a court order to do those things? Why do they want the right to do it at their own discretion?

I understand the need to play hardball and support it. However, I get really wary of any attack on our freedoms. My immigrant father saw first hand what happens when Communism takes over and every word said is captured and used against you. I grew up listening to stories of how those bastards took every freedom away from them bit by bit. So whenever I see even a little freedom taken away in this country, even if it buys us a little more security, I immediately think we're on a slippery slope.

Believe me, the extra security is NOT worth a slide to Gestapo tactics in this country. I would rather be free with less security than live securely with Big Brother looking over my shoulder.
