In many case the healthcare situation will PRECLUDE leaving anything for those unfortunate enough to contract serious illnesses. I'm not sure what you're talking about here. There is no "right" to health care as Obama claims. And there is no "right" to being able to come through a difficult illness without being broke. As a self-employed person, I pay $1200/month for health insurance for me and my wife. Both high-deductibles. That doesn't guarantee me I won't suffer some illness that leaves me broke. It helps, but there are no guarantees. In addition, I pay a lot (can't remember how much) for long-term disability, so that if I'm disabled, I still have a living income. To pay these things, I make sacrifices. I don't drive the nicest cars, I don't have the nicest home, but I have security. I have a real problem with paying these things for myself then having to pay them for other people, too. If you want to do that, fine -- write the government a check, they'll take it. But I don't want to have my money confiscated for that purpose. It is the same bullcrap we have for the mortgage bailout. We're going to have those who behaved responsibility paying the mortgages of those who didn't. That's about as anti-American as anything I can conceive of. He put in place a medicare drug benefit Which I was opposed to and clearly indicated in other threads I was opposed to it. started a war he didn't need This is a point you and I disagree about. MOST OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AGREED WITH IT WHEN IT STARTED. That is the metric. That public opinion soured on it AFTER THE FACT is totally without consequence. We were in agreement that it needed to be done. Those of us who understand the issues at stake still believe that. and drove up the debt. Yes, as has every president in modern times. But NOBODY, NOBODY has had deficits like what this socialist is projecting. I mean not even close. Now all of a sudden the other side are 'Socialists, Commies, what have you'. Listening to you guys, one wonders how Obama got one vote! Read Krauthammer's column this week. Then you'll know how he got the votes. He misled the American people. You do realize that even high wage earners supported him over the Republicrooks, don't you? A lot of people got sucked in by him. A lot are also realizing their mistakes but willing to give him more time. He knows he has a limited amount of time and that's why he is trying to cram this agenda down the People's collective throat before they understand what happened.
