He's not slow-witted, but is indecisive (thus the willingness to be a figurehead instead of leading himself) and lazy (with a capacity to handle so much and no more which is being exceeded now). I would agree, but put it slightly differently. I don't believe Obama has a well thought-through political philosophy, just a set of inherited beliefs or ideas acquired by osmosis from his mentors and surroundings. Because he's never really thought it all through, he doesn't know what he thinks about many of the very difficult issues landing on his desk right now. This makes him be indecisive.
