I spoke to one of my cousins earlier this evening. We were talking and suddenly he said he had just gotten back from a business trip to Charlotte. This cousin really likes to eat out at gourmet restaurants so I was expecting to hear about his latest restaurant find. Instead, he said: "I saw some buildings under construction". I said: "excuse me". He repeated: "they have buildings under construction in Charlotte. That must be a positive sign, don't you think?" What the hell is happening to us that normal people now find buildings under construction an important thing to point out in a conversation. A sign of the times? I guess.
