Emile, what index of the Early Church Father are you using? I am simply curious as it is well documented that the first century Christians refused to enter military and political office due to the fact of their need to remain neutral and their allegiance to God's kingdom. Many of our first century christian brothers and sisters died on the basis of their belief in the kingdom. They continued to wait on the Kingdom even after the death of the Apostles. In the third century, in an effort to preserve the Roman Empire, the politicians of that time came up with an ingenious and evil means to keep the people under their control, they created Universal Church as state Government and by mixing Pagan beliefs with the facade of Chritianity they made it easy for the various pagan nations to convert. Notice how many "Christian" holidays are steeped in pagan ritual to this day. It was at this time that the Apostasy had gone full blown. With the mixture of Pagan and Christian beliefs came the adoption of many Greek and Roman philosophies, including the widely held Platonic beliefs. For many centuries, the Roman Catholic Church persecuted and killed any who dared read or keep a copy of the Bible, clearly showing that God could not be backing this Christian/Pagan conglomerate. These were the "Dark Ages" when the wicked man came and sowed Weeds with the Wheat. It is almost impossible to differentiate Weeds and Wheat when they are first growing. Jesus said that first you must allow the Wheat and the Weeds to grow before you send in the workers to separate them. Thus, at the end of the Dark Ages the reformation began, where many rejected the Pagan Steeped church. What happened? In the end these Protestant religions adopted the same pagan beliefs that they originally fought against. They chose to tickle the ears of their followers than to follow the example of our Christ. A good benefit of the reformation was the making of God's Word available to the masses. But, then the higher critics of the 18th and 19th century went out to destroy the credibility of the Bible itself, and proposed their own theology which again mixes their beliefs with a facade of Christianity. This, along with the adoption of the theory of Evolution as fact, caused many to no longer even read the Bible. All those lives sacrifised to free the Bible, only to have it ignored by general apathy. Satan is indeed 'blinding the minds of the unbelievers.'
