Ted, > And what are those generous benefits....a car? car allowance? stock options? Year end bonuses? I'm curious.

They pay a lot less in health care than I do for the same coverage, and they have retirement pension that pays almost as much as they earned during their working years.

By the way, my car insurance isn't nearly $2K/year, and I have a nice car. Plus the median house in the LAUSD isn't at $500K (or at least not anymore).

I have a few friends from my alma mater now living in Southern California who made less than these teachers. Two of them are now unemployed. Meanwhile, teachers are protesting getting pink slips, which are mere warnings that they might be laid off.

So when you claim, "teacher salaries are some of the lowest for a professional in this country," I know for a fact that you are wrong. That's the impression the teachers unions want to convey, but it is a gross exaggeration.
