When I look back on my Moms death I think it was as "good" as it could have been other than the long wait in the ER. Once her own docs were in charge they were up front with me and said, "You should get your family in here, and if you think she isn't being adequately medicated for comfort you tell me." And they handled it.

I don't mean to make more of it than it was; I just felt the long wait was uncalled for.

BTW, I don't know if you caught Mike Huckabee's show last night (I usually watch it as I like him) but he had a NY doc on who had begun to provide a monthly flat-fee service for his patients for $79/mo. I didn't see the whole thing but the state board of insurance came after him. And won. They were able to force him to raise his rate and to exclude sick visits from it.

That's right - they forced him to RAISE his rate. He tried to do a lower flat-fee that included sick visits. They were legally able to force him to increase it then continue charging for sick visits separately. Insane.
