"What if it turns out these "bonuses" are not bonuses at all, but are commissions for which AIG is contractually obligated to make payment? "

Hence the term "might". However, if there is anything in the contract about "perform", they are on shaky ground.

"Do you think it would be okay for YOUR paycheck to be "taken back" because I or someone else didn't like the way you earned it?"

Well, personally, if I had been responsible for making the decisions that caused my company to fly into the ground, I'd be gratified to have a job that paid anything. If in addition, I would have been responsible for crashing the global economy, then staying out of jail would be the only bonus I would wish for. Under no circumstances would I consider I had a right to 10s of millions of taxpayer dollars.

But, then again, I am not a neo. I take responsibility for my mistakes. I don't expect millions for screwing up in a galactic way.

If that WERE the case, dumbass, don't you think AIG would have just avoided the whole problem and CALLED them "commissions"?
