Untenable? Definitely. But avoidable? I don't think there is enough information to know that.

Congress obviously should have placed strings on the money. That they didn't is Obama's fault and that of Congress. They could have stopped it and didn't. Obama is the smartest attorney on the face of earth, after all. Law review, all that.

But you can't just change the terms of the money that was advanced after the fact. You can say, "You're not getting any more".

AIG needs to be forced into bankruptcy. Even though the fed chairman is convinced that Bush Bailout saved the economy.

If they were promised at the beginning of 2008, I doubt they were commissions.
