I noticed this thing popping its ugly head back up. Somehow a mere 50% haircut from the bubble peaks just doesn't make sense for a heavily indebted casino. Sure, they renegotiated their terms to avoid default concerns, but they STILL have 1.6B in debt! Looks like they're paying about 6% interest. WhoTF in their right mind would loan somebody like this !!!!! 1.6 BILLION DOLLARS !?!?!?!?

$100M in annual interest payments, against revenues just north of $1B...

Note 5 — Long-term debt
Long-term debt consisted of the following:

December 31,
2008 2007
(Amounts in Thousands)

Senior credit facilities, secured by first priority security interest in substantially all real and personal property assets of ACI and its subsidiaries, consisting of the following facilities:

Revolving loan facility, at variable interest (4.5% at December 31, 2008 and 7.1% at December 31, 2007); principal due November 10, 2010
$ 1,259,000 $ 1,252,000
Term loan facility, at variable interest (2.5% at December 31, 2008 and 7.4% at December 31, 2007); $1.0 million principal payments due quarterly through September 30, 2011; $94.3 million principal payments due quarterly from December 31, 2011 through November 10, 2012

Hopefully that one is getting into the resistance at $30. I still have no position; I'm too fearful of where the general market is headed on this move.

I'm stunned that earnings are holding up at these restaurants. Gotta hand it to the market - it's been "right" all along. Smarter than I am, as usual. <g> In the short time frames, anyways...

I think it'll be fascinating if this latest news from DRI ends up getting sold. Would actually be my expectation, but I've also been *expecting* the good news at the restaurants to run out for a long time now, so we see what my expectations are worth. I finally woke up to the fact that Q4 was going to be surprisingly good due to the drop in gas prices, but I thought Q1 would be the death knell. So far I'm still waiting...

Anybody got a good count here? Does EW offer anyone any particular insight as to the degree of this advance? I thought it was just a "iv of 5", but it seems to be a higher degree than that. I'm watching the new penny stocks - C BAC GE - as indicators of the general degree of this rally. So far, they haven't caved.
