Al, > Do you have any idea how hapless that sounds? Yes I do. I don't really care how it sounds, though. All I care about is doing the right thing. Sometimes that means letting circumstances work themselves out. Other times it means intervening and providing relief, fixing regulation, shoring up institutions vital to the economy, etc. But when you turn the issue into one of "doing something" over "doing nothing," I can point out how "doing nothing" actually has merit, especially if "doing something" leads to something worse 90% of the time.
