I think poor teachers and their union are a real problem.

However having had a child who had issues at school causing me to spend more time there then I did when I attended school you are spot on when you say the inmates are running the asylum. I can't count the number of times at the school I heard fuck off and others directed at teachers from students with no response by the teacher. I would have never considered doing such a thing when I was in school because before I would have gotten off out of my mouth every male teacher in range would have been kicking my ass up and down the hallway. And here is the critical difference, when I would have gotten home and complained of the physical abuse and told my parents why it happened I would have gotten my ass kicked all over again and dragged back to the school to apologize. Today the first call is a lawyer or social worker and the teacher would be the one being penalized, fired or sued.

Joe, I agree the abuse the teachers have to endure is intolerable. I still take fault with the unions because they don't actively demand discipline. The only reason private schools accomplish more is they can throw people out.

The mere distractions offered by the lame "students" by their loud, offensive and violent manner degrades the learning atmosphere to near zero.

I don't want to hear how unfortunate they are, because they are being given an opportunity and spitting at it. I know many very poor people without fathers who applied themselves and succeeded! Get the problems out of the schools.

One reason schools want to keep the distracting element in school is they get paid by attendance.
