I would do the same thing as I do right now, which is give a fair share of my revenus to local small charity organizations. In fact I would certainly give 2 or 3 times more since my tax bill would be much less than it is now.

What are you doing now personally? Anything or are you saying like most that it is the government business not theirs.

What would you do in a real free market system?<<

koan:

You just do not seem to understand "we are the government"!

You are part of a tribe, a society if you will. This tribe is a democracy and has priority over individual rights. The tribe protects you from other waring tribes, inspects your food, sends firemen and police to protect your family and belongings and builds roads, and water and sewer systems.

You have ethical obligations to your tribe as it keeps you safe and looks out for you.

As an aside, and I mean an aside, are you aware that contributions to charities are down right now. HOWEVER, that makes no difference whatsoever. A member of the tribe has a right to live a dignified life if they are injured or have other legitimate problems.

The tribe protects you and you protect the tribe!

When a person goes to a "charity" they often have to trade their dignity for that charitable contribution. It is bad enough receiving welfare and food stamps. Say if you are struck by a car and renedered paralyzed.

A civilized tribe will take care of you!

I took care of my mother the last 20 years of her life. She qualified for welfare and food stamps, as she had nothing, but we never took a dime. I gave her my duplex to live in (I bought a condo for myself and wife) and paid for her other needs (like her medical perscriptions, as she grew up in abject poverty and was a proud woman, whom I did not want to have to endure the indignities of being poor which was not her fault!

You, Claude Cornier, have an obligation to your tribe. Not on your terms, but on the tribes terms.

That is democracy and the finest form of government mankind ever invented.
