I really admire his Dad. He was a first class act. It was a shame MU never hired him. He really wanted to coach at Marquette.

Tony I know little about, but last year I was hoping he would come to Marquette. A year later I am happy with who we have. In fact, I am glad Tony did not come. Buzz seems like he has a lot of upside and appears to taylor his game to the players he has. Not all coaches do, and you really have to.

Frankly I don't understand the move to UVA, but whatever. Tony has to do what he has to do. Maybe he felt his star was fading and it was time for new scenery?

Hope you get a good one coug and good to hear from you.

Speaking of his Dad, I have under my keyboard a press clipping from when UW went to the final four. It says:

"The coach misted up a few times Saturday. Reaching this moment was, he said "touching a dream." And then, as he so often will, he offered some perspective.

"When people say: 'Is this the greatest thing that's ever happened to you?' I guess from a feeling state, of euphoria, yes," Bennett said. "But it doesn't compare with children and grandchildren and faith and stuff like that. I would hope I would always have the sense to know what really matters and that enables me to enjoy what seems to matter, like this."

This journey goes on now, to Indianapolis and the Final Four.

"If you think that you can be competitive, then anything's possible," Bennett said. "That's where we are now."

And that is a very fine place to be.

-----------

I love coaches that put things in perspective and try to teach the right way to live and be. Bennett did that. I think, from what I have seen of Buzz this year, that he does the same. Life lessons are more important than basketball lessons.
