Mahmoud:

And Intel boosters don't know the meaning of the word validated. They think that all you have to do is offer something and its immediately purchased by everyone. Sorry, that is a dream world. Especially for servers. And far from the truth for mission critical servers. Those people test and test and test some more until they are satisfied. Its their asses on the line, if something fails. So they set a high bar for verification and successfully completing that verification is called by the word validated. And that takes time and lots of it.

This isn't news to anyone in the server field. Anyone who looks at the sales of a new server platform being deployed by a manufacturer starts off very small. Those pioneers and testers buy or more typically borrow a few to test. Then after some less critical or new tasks are satisfied, they start to buy more. The sales start rising in earnest once those trials are done and that happens in about a year barring major problems. If those get to be critical ones, purchases go quickly to zero and the server gets black listed.

So validated as it is used in this context is a year for a new untried server platform. Well what is early Q2/2009 plus 1 year? Q2/2010.

Elmer, Mahmoud and other Intel boosters are wrong ... no need to imagine that, its reality.
