Re:wall street and you have tons of people making huge returns...and you havent even counted PUBLIC operations yet! Your assuming that they reinvest it all and now would have BILLIONS but don't (as you so often point out)...they dont reinvest it and neither do I...I live on it!!!

DAK,
No offense intended, but that is the most asinine statement I've heard on SI. If one was consistently making triple digit returns, why wouldn't they reinvest every penny? They would have BILLIONS in no time whatsoever. The truth of the matter is nobody has these kinds of gains. Of all the billionaires who exist, I believe that not one has made their fortune by trading; they have gotten where they are by investing for the long haul. Was it Peter Lynch who said:"I know of no one who knows anyone who knows anyone, who has made it rich by timing the market." Read: ST Trading. Looking at the retuens of the mutual funds, I find it hard to believe that there are any people seriously making 100% returns. I know the hedge funds perfom better than mutual funds as a group, but the mutual funds' performance is pathetic so the comparison is a weak one at best.

regards,

Brian
