Here are a couple of references:

For an estimate of 800 million tonnes/annum methane from reservoirs:

news.bbc.co.uk

and for annual global estimate of methane:

epa.gov

Note Fig 1 the second reference only cites methane at 16% of annual global emissions. I assume the amount varies on the estimate of methane's potency as a greenhouse gas compared to C02 ranging from 8:1 to 20:1. If the potency is 10:1, and the amount cited in the first paper at 800 million tonnes/year is reasonable, then using Fig 2 in the second second reference, methane accounts for 33% of annual global man made emissions. Whatever the real number may be, it is obvious that hydro electric power is one of the least "green" options for energy available. Clearly, hydro power projects and their reservoirs are one of the largest and dirtiest polluters on the planet, if you believe green house gases are an issue.

Why do you say I choose not to understand that you are for all energy types? I think that is true of you, but not necessarily of all the posters on this thread. Others have been far less open minded, which I think is silly.
