Re: "In terms of comparing last years spending with this years, it has increased"

Right. Compared to Bush's last defense budget this new Obama proposed one represents an increase.

(It also makes sense to back-out the war spending when comparing the baseline defense budgets, too... because --- since Iraq/Afghanistan was never included in Bush's official defense budgets, and they ARE officially included in Obama's budget, if you don't back them out it would make the Obama defense budget increase LOOK EVEN BIGGER THEN IT ACTUALLY IS. Important to compare 'apples to apples'. :-)

Re: "In terms of changes from the previous plans its a decrease."

Eh???????????????

WHAT "plans"?

WHOSE "plans"?

(I thought we were just comparing the OFFICIAL DEFENSE BUDGET REQUESTS proposed by President Bush, and now the first one proposed by President Obama.)

Once Obama's defense request works it's way through Congress, and gets enacted... then we can compare official APPROVED BUDGET to other official approved budgets, too.

But if you want to compare it to someone else's 'plan', (other then Bush's or Obama's) you will need to spell out who's plan you are talking about....
