I agree with you about the spin- what was it they said? height difference? Hm.

Dale is over a foot taller than I am. I don't think he bowed when we shook hands, and now I want to know why.

The WH shouldn't have tried to "explain" it. Either you saw it as respect or you viewed it as obeisance, and no one will change his mind about it.

The brouhaha about the incident in the first place is the problem. The White House could certainly have handled the questions better, sure. I agree with you that they should have said he was just showing respect. But why did the question even come up?

My point was that since Saudi Arabia is not an enemy, the right-wing hysteria about the bow is foolish.
