Every official function she attends could be labeled 'pressing state business'.

I think you're a little confused:

Palin said she simply could not make it to the retreat because pressing state business made it impossible for her to leave Alaska this weekend.

So where is Palin this weekend? She's in Washington, D.C., attending the super-elite Alfalfa Dinner.

"She lied to us," said a Republican at the retreat

Yes. I agree it's worth monitoring. I could not care less who she stiffs, or whether the republican party dumps her as their poster child. I don't know what an Alfalfa dinner is but if its more important to her, there was no lie there. Every official function she attends could be labeled 'pressing state business'. I'm sure every gov has to decline several per week on that excuse.

Maybe you should do some more due diligence on the people you so admire.
