For those of us who were there, the Monkees were just a fake group cooked up to capitalize on the Beatles phenomena. They had their own televison show, provided by rip-off, fake corporate America. Although they were real musicians, a couple of them even decent ones, they often had studio guys dub for them.

You ever listen to their music? It was formulaic and trite. It riffed on the "safe" themes of the times and their music was simplistic and loud. No signs of art at all.
