Do you think they are big tree hugging, environmentalists? Not likely. The Russians are after oil and they see the ice melting and decide they want to start making a play for the resources there, as the ice melts further.

It's a land grab, that's all.. There's nothing to prevent them from drilling THROUGH that ice RIGHT NOW, so long as they keep breaking up the ice flow around the rig. But they are also looking to divide up the Methane Hydrates.

There was nothing in that article (that I saw) to suggest this increased exploration/surveying has anything to do with melting ice.

Dude.. your ilk won't even permit oil companies to drill in ANWR!! So stop your BS about getting the right to drill in the Arctic.
