If we don't end up nationalizing the banks and the economy recovers somewhat under the current spending plans, you have to wonder what Krugman will have to write about. I could see him becoming very marginal in that circumstance; but in fact, he is only seen and read by a small fraction of Americans now anyway. You have to frequent the right media circles to know he exists at all.

Unfortunately the tea baggers are led by some of the fringers- so, unlike the anti-war movement, which was a pretty broad coalition, I doubt these parties will be. But we'll see.

The only people distorting the anti-war marches were a few hundred anarchists our of many thousands of people. The main folks in the tea bag parties seems to be the fringe. They don't know they are the fringe, of course, but it's pretty obvious.
