The only way Newt could become a nationally elected leader is if there were a real crisis, people were desperate and he seemed to be the best hope. In a normal election cycle we would hear endlessly about him shoving divorce papers under his first wife's nose while she was recovering from cancer surgery, and having an affair with another woman while he was married to second wife. Both of which I find repulsive.
