Hey, Cogito, that "report" was nine pages of speculation with no basis in fact which managed to impugn all veterans and right-wingers as potential terrorists. There may have been responsible reports at other times on extreme right-wing militias, but this wasn't one of them.

And if you expect me to believe that it was "leaked" to the public the day before the Tea Party protests by chance, you'll have to do better than that. I notice Steve Benen does not address this, the main point.

Any idea of who supposedly wrote the "left-wing extremist document" a few months before this one, Allan? I'd like to compare the "LWE, and the RWE documents before we go any farther.

I did find that there were only 3 people in the office of: Acting Under Secretary For Intelligence & Analysis Roger Mackin - just Mackin and two assistants. And from what I can read, he was instructed to write that at the beginning of this year under Obama.

About what I would expect from "The Washington Monthly," Cog. This was put out the day before the Tea Parties to put the knife to them. You Liberals think that saying "Muslim Terrorists" is "hate speech." But anything goes for those of us that disagree with you. Keep this kind of tripe over on the "Center" thread, will ya? I don't come over there and annoy you.

Liberal democrat Bennie Thompson must not have thought it through either:

The senior Democrat of the House committee with oversight of the department said the most recent report raises privacy and civil liberty issues. "This report appears to have blurred the line between violent belief, which is constitutionally protected, and violent action, which is not," Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., wrote in a letter to Napolitano.
