For me deficit spending is bad under most circumstances regardless of which party is in control...I have always argued that the differences are relative, with the GOP generally the lessor of two evils. I think you have to ignore the past 30 years of history to arrive at that conclusion. Reagan had huge budget deficits. His budgets were cut in every instance by a more conservative Congress. Bush 41 never had a balanced budget and Bush 43 didn't even try to come close to a balanced budget. We had 6 years of a Republican Congress under Bush 43 and they produced huge budget deficits.
