Speedy passenger trains aren't necessary and should not be purchased at this time.

If you know Ron Pauls politics you understand that I too have to be a fiscal conservative. If I was King for a day our budget would be cut and in a big way - especially the military! How can any reasonable person argue that we need to spend as much as the rest of the world put together? We should have listened to Eisenhower.

But I am also a pragmatist. As a pragmatist I understand that we are going to spend money to stimulate the economy. I suspect if McCain was our president we would be spending every bit as much if not more. Sooooo, better to have a man like Obama in the WH who is not reckless. Many liberal economist want to spend very much more than we are.

Sooo, why not spend on something our kids will benefit from and will put people to work instead of putting them on the welfare dole? Bridges, broadband, efficient power grids, more efficient medical records, stem cell research, education and TRAINS are things that put a lot of people to work and for which we get a return. You don't want to spend on these things - okay we differ.
