Ross:

I'm sure all the longs feel frustrated at this point. The CC was a flop and the stock is diving because of the continued lack of information. The Westell view of 3 months ago seems very wrong, Alcatel not being ready, Westell ready to fill in, 1/3 CAP, 1/3 DMT, 1/3 don't care of the line code. KenM brings up a good point, the JPC announced over a year ago their intension of using an Alcatel solution. Why hasn't GTE announced? What makes the JPC different than GTE? One is willing to show their hand a year in advance and the other isn't going to announce until deployment start. On a different note:

Ameritech extends DSC Comm <DIGI.O) contract

DALLAS, Oct 27 (Reuters) - DSC Communications Corp and Ameritech said Monday that they signed an agreement extending deliveries of DSC's advanced access systems for an additional three years, extending the life of the contract through 2002.

The contract is expected to be worth $100 million to $125 million per year.

Ameritech said it is deploying DSC's next generation digital loop carrier products to enhance capacity of its telecommunications network with fiber-optic quality and broadcast capabilities.

The agreement further extends a contract originally signed by the two companies in 1992, the companies said.

The companies said the contract marks an increase in deliveries of DSC's Starpan solution, a fiber-to-the-curb access system that Ameritech will use to evolve its current network.
