re BG - fertilizer business is boom/bust, it always have been. So i would not pay a high multiple for that nor do I venture a guess when it recovers. CPO and ADM are processors. This business is more stable.

I agree that Paulson (and Bernanke ?) have overstepped their boundaries if what Lewis claims indeed is true. Even if the episode is true, i think Lewis needs to be fired because he has breached his fiduciary duty for his shareholders.

WSJ also had an article about NCC which got taken over in a shotgun marriage by PNC despite capital ratios that were OK. Another bank across town got TARP'ed despite being much worse off. Go figure.

now the next guys that are getting screwed by the government are the GM and Chrysler debtholders with this forced equity exchange. They should tell the government to pay cash or take a hike and let them go into bankruptcy - that what bankruptcy is for.
