there is a world of difference between the masonry homes of china that by and by are being replaced systematically, per part of economic reform, etc etc and will generate much gdp going forward, even if it is a one-off per 600 years event, because there are 800 years of pent-up demand to whittle dow, and

the wooden palaces of usa that is forever a wealth-sink and a tax-anchor, and

the difference is that there is not a cent of structured product built on top of the masonry soon to be torn down, as opposed to the everest of derivatives supported by wooden frames to be digested, blown away, shaken apart, or boarded up

however, the above is neither here nor there, because should you paid attention to my original post, i most certainly was not dissing the quality of wooden houses in the USA - you thought so because of your preference to believe your worst. i was praising the construction in europe.

to clarify, when we dined at friends and family's places, the structures were either 280+ years old abodes or newer homes comprised of fittings meant to last 280+ years.

and if i did not say above so clearly, i said this Message 25570760

(original post) "differences between china/europe on the one hand and usa on the other i/r to residential real estate is that the former have 30% down payment in the game, and the latter has nought, and the latter are laughably expensive to buy for what they are (wooden sticks in the middle of nowhere requiring much commute) and absurdly expensive to own (property taxes, maintenance due to construction material and method)

but never mind all that, because double dip recession / depression is on way regardless

just in in-tray ... "

all of the above, to me, are merely statement of facts even if generalizes, and some on the thread apparently took offense for reasons i cannot begin to and will not bother to fathom.

so, for watch n brief purpose, i posted what i did, but what happened after is hardly my doing. you do see that, do you not?

the discussions that followed was funny, though :0)

i liked the energy ;0)
