Surely you can see the future of technology is so complex we need to have the scientific community plugged into our social and political system.

Like hell we do. The LAST thing we need is for the scientific process to be compromised and subverted by political expediency and bias.

What WE NEED is a NON-POLITICAL scientific community dedicated to providing the most objective and all-inclusive data for policy makers presented up to scientific scrutiny in a public forum.

And we're not getting that.

For our childrens sake we need to stick our personal feelings in our back pockets an embrace the scientific community.

Science is like economics.. It's meant to serve the betterment of mankind, not the other way around.

Let's not forget who's the servant and who's the master.

Thank God we have Obama in power. He's very science friendly. Did you see his proposal to increase science and tech spending on R&D to 3% of GDP. This guy is an amazing visionary. He's spending the money in all the right places. That's exactly the place to put our money for the highest ROI and to ensure our long term prosperity. Bush was a luddite when it came to science. Too bad as President he wasn't more like when he was Governor of Texas. Maybe Cheney corrupted him.

Btw, to speak about "Fascism" and what the Obama administration has done to keep it's party in power, one only need look at how they put the Census Bureau under White House control:

ornery.org

Control and manipulate the census, you control congressional re-districting.. Control that and you control the government for your party.

That's kind of smells like Fascism to me.. ;0)
