Charles - a pure democracy sucks. A Republican form of government is what we have that protects the rights of all. Of course as one supposedly concerned for the least amongst us you know that.

Actually the more regulation the more entanglement between government and business. A totally unregulated business had no interest in government.

Sometime look up how much the GSE's Fannie and Freddie gave to politicians like Obama, Dodd, Frank. And how their boards were stacked with corrupt political hacks.

Agreed. It's the same as when Bush was President. The same folks that were so in favor of spending hundreds of billions on the Iraq war were the same ones who were adamantly against paying increased taxes to pay for it. A bit hypocritical, don't you think?
