The Republicans have been getting their asses kicked in every possible way by the Democrats. Losing Arlen Specter is just one more example of that. They're a party in free fall.

At some point they will decide to be constructive partners with the majority party instead of absolute obstructionists.

Survival will demand it.

IMHO dem acceptance of the basically conservative Specter has something to do with that bad norm coleman behaviour in MN to keep franken out. Its a hardball move that might have been rejected in less contentious times. After all specter shuts out many dems in PA who had their eyes on his seat and these dems are more in line with national dem ideology than Specter.

You're assuming that Specter will win the Dem primary.
