Doctors could conceivably stop putting patients on diets and recommending that they lose weight.

Only if your metric is longevity, as opposed to the quality of the experience. Kidney Dialysis into old age is not a lot of fun.

I had a similar thought to the other poster that responded.. ie quality of life ... plus I wonder how much more sick folks are monitored..

I worry about osteoporosis because when I need to stop doing outdoor stuff.. I'd probably want to stop period.. Maybe that will change but @ 52 I cannot really see that I would comfortably adjust to a very sedentary just stayin' alive life..
