but @ 52 I cannot really see that I would comfortably adjust to a very sedentary just stayin' alive life..

At 52 I had very different ideas about how I would choose to live after retirement. When I reached the point where my time was my own to spend as I pleased, most of the activities I thought I'd engage in fell by the wayside. In part is was because I'd reached the point of "been there, done that." Some was that my interests just changed. I'm finding putting my feet up much more satisfying than I ever expected.

You, too, may have very different ideas about a good life when you get older so don't be prematurely discouraged.
