Hawk,
China is pushing solar but sure they use a lot of coal and are adding more.. OTOH 50+ of US powergen is coal. That is a huge problem. Mr. O's man Mr. Chu has recently been talking about clean coal ... OK they are making inroads maybe on mountain top mining.. but I cannot see a lot of coal being replaced in the next 8 years.. Then again gas turbines may be a great investment :O)

worldcoal.org
cia.gov

China 78% of power from coal * 3,271,000,000,000 KWH = 2551380000000 KWH from coal.

USA 50% of power from coal * 3,892,000,000,000 KWH = 1946000000000

1946000000000/2551380000000=76% so US needs a big change too as it still very high, considering the population differential though China can increase in a big way..

OTOH China has 25 some odd reactors planned for powergem ..USA I believe zero.

Canada is 18% powergen from coal. 2 reactors on tap...
world-nuclear.org

Anyway next few years should be interesting.. Looks like the US needs to get off its duff..
