Is it socialism when you call the fire department? Is it socialism when you drive down the street to your home?

When you look at California public pensions issues, yes, it is beginning to look like the fire department, the police department, CALTRANS, etc are indeed socialism. TWT.

Essential government services should be tools under control of the citizens. Socialistic entitlement programs place citizens under control of the government.

If I don't like the way the fire department runs I can go to my city manager. If I don't like the way social security runs I can go to h*ll, as long as I keep paying what the government tells me to pay.

I believe you mean well but giving up long-term freedom for short-term comfort is Faustian.
