Nice posts.

I'm not sure how to deal with the PPIP.

Any suggestions?

i do believe the two main theme of the bible to be inspired

1. that mankind is selfish (fails to care for others equal to oneself), which is the true definition of sin.

2. that it is impossible for peace and prosperity when people act selfishly.

<<

This is a great place to start, imo.

I would go further -- that internally (as Decartes said) we can conceive of the divine -- therefore it must exist --

there is an understanding deep down in every man that things are "not the way they ought to be." Man is "fallen."

Poor government is a symptom of this -- I think the founding fathers were practical men who recognized this as well -- this is why they sought a form of limited government -- powers strictly limited and delineated by the best document they could come up with.

Not unlike what Jesus encountered while He was bodily present here -- he saw that God's law had been layered over by the Rabbis and "improved" to the point that the underlying principles of the Mosaical law had been destroyed -- so our law (starting from a much less perfect base) has been twisted and tortured to the extent it is not really followed any longer.

But I digress -- back to the larger point -- you can't discuss the first ideas without getting back to more primary ideas -- primary mover? -- and do we have a purpose?

and if things are "broken", how can they be restored??

I love the subject of science -- as a learner and a teacher -- but science for all its bravado and supposed "objective" view (claims to not be man-centric -- ha!!) can never reach the questions of purpose -- science is only really descriptive.

It sounds like Jesus and God might be Commie Pinkos.
