I'm here! No sense even stepping outside this am.......just when I was ready and willing to take my dog (speaking of) for a walk.

Pouring down rain!

I have been very neglectful of taking her for walks and I honestly think she's depressed. Mopes around all day and lethargic. She'll occasionally grab her ball and play her silly game of hiding it under her bed or slap it across the room. She wants me to throw it, and I do, but it has to stay on the rug in the living room because the rest is hard wood and those nails of her do a job on them when she runs.

Maybe the rain will taper off this afternoon?

I am here also. Been reading and trying to keep up, but been a busy lady lately. Wrote a monologue after I signed in this afternoon <gg> and lost it to cyberspace. That really upset me. I didn't try to rewrite it as I had errands to do also. Just back from dinner so here goes....

Our oldest son had an opportunity to sell his home and did so. He really got a very good price for it and we agreed with him as it was an older home and beginning to need a lot of repairs. I offered for him to stay with us until he decided whether he was going to buy another home or rent a place for awhile. He jumped at the chance and I had absolutely no idea how much he had saved in his place. He has been divorced almost ten years and after that he mostly came to visit us rather than us going over to see him, so I was simply amazed when he started bringing things over. He has two sons from his marriage and he gets them on Wednesdays and every other weekend. So when he started bringing his property to our home I realized that this young man had not cleaned his clothes closets out since junior high and I had to go out and buy several clothes racks and still didn't have room for all of them. I just could not believe all he had saved, no kidding.

We had a rent house become available and he decided he would like to move into it until he decided what he was going to do and that way we could get our home back in order again. I can hardly wait. I had this house rented to a couple who had sold their house and were looking for another to buy. They were such a nice couple I decided to let them rent it even short term as felt comfortable they would take good care of it and they surely did. I had updated the house and it looked like a new home inside. I floored the complete attic so it has more than adequate storage space and they were able to keep most of their important pieces there and not have to put them in storage. They took such good care of it while they were in it but finally found what they were looking for and called me and told me they were ready to move. So our son will be in the process of moving from here there. He has two cats that belong to his sons that he had left at the old place as he did not want to upset them because that was the only home they have lived in and didn't want to cause them more grief than he had to. He too is an animal lover. The oldest is the mother of the younger one and she is almost fifteen years old and the son is almost ten. The yard is completely fenced but next door resides two pit bull males and Junior looks after his Mom and I'm sure those pit bulls will bark a lot when the cats arrive to live there and I told him to keep them inside for a couple of weeks before letting them go out into the yard. Junior is quite the defender and with the fence I think he will hold his ground with them. They still have their claws so have some defense to deal with the dogs. The saving grace is that Junior could not slide through the fence if he wanted to investigate the neighbors yard as he is a heavy weight big Tabby male. Our son has not been a bother but with everything he brought over here I am certain it will take him a couple of weeks to get everything from here to there as he will be working days and moving evenings and week ends and daily living. It is just amazing to me that he had so much stuff he was saving for what I really don't know. I still have some things up in the attic that he never retrieved from college days like letters we wrote to him and pictures taken at his fraternity house he lived in for a couple of years. I have suggested he have a yard sale after all is moved and the back yard is adequate to do that, but that may come later as he will surely be exhausted in getting everything moved, I know.

Finally got my Jeep Liberty repaired and they did a nice job on it and I am pleased. Been trying to make appointments for all my yearly checkup on days that I have free and I will be happy when those are over with. Going on eight years in September that I am cancer free so always glad when I get good news each year and beginning to feel better about it as I get closer to ten. One always thinks that it will come back especially before five years are up and have found that to be true with everyone I know who is a survivor. It does happen.

Just found out our 60th high school reunion will be in September and most of those that are left do not want to get gussied up and spend that much money for it. Some suggested a picnic and most of us nixed that. It is still very warm here in September and can be very hot. We are going to our high school for it as it has become a Culinary Art school and when the committee called the school to see about getting some pictures the Principle now suggested that we have it there so he could show the work of his senior chefs getting ready to graduate next year. They will cook and serve us for a nominal cost. We will handle the security for same as the neighborhood has changed so much and there are pockets of crime going on around there so some requested it. We will meet from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Once the class above us found out what we were doing this year, we were contacted to see if some of them might join us. We all agreed as we knew so many from their class also. Said their group had dwindled so much they didn't have enough to have a reunion last year and really wanted to join us to see everyone who was still alive. What a thought!! Our class has lost some but still many are in good health and we believe that was because we all lived cleaner lives than they did.....<vbg> We didn't have many that drank and even less that smoked back then. Some did those things after they went to college after graduating. Most of THEM did it in high school and paid their price for it.

I am now back to bowling three days a week and bowl tomorrow so need to retire so I have good energy tomorrow. Monday had some good scores and hope to do that well again as feel I am going to get back to where I was eight years ago. Back is not causing as many problems now so I am ready to get on with some good scores again. Bowling can be so frustrating when one cannot be consistent and it hard to believe one can roll a bad game and come back the next game and do everything right. Sometimes I do a lot of SOB's meaning "Should of been" rolls. The biggest thing they tease me about is getting the combination to work on the locker I have. Always had a key and no problem. This house has all combination locks and at first I really couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong with it. Thank goodness I am not the only that has had that problem. I am now five times out of five times doing it alone without calling the manager or the mechanic to open it with their key. They all yell "Congratulations" when I come out to put my bowling balls in the rack. It is a fun group and all are senior citizens so aches and pains are readily accepted among all of us as not unusual. I am going to bowl in a "No Tap" league on Tuesdays this summer and think I will do well as I usually leave the seven or ten pin when I bowl and in No Tap if you get a nine count it counts as a strike. I leave a lot of six, seven and ten pins also, but I have learned again to pick those up frequently. Was beginning to think I made a mistake going to a twelve pound ball from an eleven pound but am beginning to trust it more than I have before. I really think it was me and not the size of the ball I am using. Beginning to remember a lot of things to compensate for which I thought I had forgotten and seems to be working okay for me. Anyway I am encouraged a lot more than usual too.

See the clock is showing it is time for me to retire so going to end this and say "Good night all". Hope to participate more as things get back to what we call normal around here.

Oh one more thing, we are going to be leaving town Thursday night as my husband has business on Friday in Louisiana and asked me if I would like go with him.. We are going to the casino to spend the night and then he will go take care of his business and then come back to stay with me at the casino until maybe Saturday so we can return home for Mother's Day with the kids. I thought that was a great idea and jumped at the chance to get away for a couple of days. I always have a great time there and can never get bored. If I get tired, I can sit and people watch and sometimes that is so interesting to do. Have met some other senior people from all over the United States there and made friends with them. Sometimes they call me when they are coming back to Texas to see if we can meet them there again. I always tell them "Can have bags packed to go gamble in fifteen minutes" and I am very willing. I am very relaxed when gambling and it is like therapy for me. Just forget the world is revolving around me and what is in front of me gets my absolute attention. Enjoy the restaurants there also. It is a huge lovely hotel and most times you think you are in Vegas instead of Louisiana. The amenities are great. They really take care of their players on down to the small amount slots. Since my oldest daughter has gone back to work I really miss us going over together on weekends when we both felt we wanted to get away for a couple of days. She now looks forward to having her weekend off in anticipation of us doing that again and so do I.

Son came in and talked with him a few minutes, so now it is later than I planned to stay up. Nite, nite for real this time. Will come back on line when we return home.....and hope to report that we won.

It's a semi-cloudy day here, and looks like its still chilly...feels like March. Yesterday was definitely like March...cold, very windy, and VERY rainy....the parking lots looked like they needed bridges over them there was so much water.

Have you recovered from your whirlwind trip through Europe? And how about Kelsey? Have I missed pictures you might have put up?
