You might be willing to take that chance, I'm not. I would rather follow those who warned us of the mess coming our way if we didn't change and they were smack on. Why should they be ignored now and Krugman embraced?

Good God ALmighty.
WHere on earth did you get the idea I was embracing Krugman or that I was willing to "take a chance"? I have repeatedly said I have no idea what the solutions are to this mess, and have no knowledge of economics, and instinctively don't like the stimulus package in many ways.
I don't believe we had any particularly appealing alternatives. I just hope Obama is guessing wisely.

I certainly was not proposing we follow Krugman. Have never said that. Please try not to extrapolate anything personal from a statement as simple as an assertion that the man knows more than most about ECONOMIC PRINCIPLES on which to base his conclusions and that his ideas need to be addressed not by insults but by logic.

The context of this was that Krugman was brought up on another thread as a rogue economist regarding the stimulus, when actually there were several who lean toward his thinking.

I think I just got a taste of Mme's frustration.:)

If we follow Krugman and he is wrong - our economy is gone. You might be willing to take that chance, I'm not. I would rather follow those who warned us of the mess coming our way if we didn't change and they were smack on. Why should they be ignored now and Krugman embraced?

Steve, there is another, much better course. Don't follow anyone.

Read as many as you have the time to read, filtering which ones on the basis of their expertise, their ability to state esoteric things clearly, their track record, their ability to teach you something, and so on.

Then make up your own mind. Krugman's not right on everything, nor is Obama, nor is Geithner, nor is Stiglitz, and so on. But the point of paying attention to all of them is to work out your own views. And then lobby your local, state, and federal politicians with what seem you to be the best courses of action.

Krugman, my guess is, would be astounded to hear that anyone would consider "following" him.
